We have written a short article on the LSE British Politics and Policy Blog to launch our report ‘The Welsh Way to Votes-at-16’ entitled ‘Votes-at-16 in Wales: both a historic event and a long-term process’. In the blog Tom Loughran, Andy Mycock and Jon Tonge argue that it is important that the introduction of ‘Votes-at-16’ in Wales is understood as an important constitutional milestone for the Senedd and argue that it should be judged in terms of its capacity to build long-term engagement of young people with Welsh elections rather than misleading unfavourable comparisons Scotland’s turnout rates among 16 and 17 year olds in 2016.
